STRIKE DOWN OPPRESSION POSTER

A recent community roleplay project took place on World of Warcraft which involved various factions vying for political and wartime power in a civil-war style community collaboration of storytelling.  For my involvement, I created a revitalized brand for an existing criminal faction and also created a propaganda poster for them.  Given the roots of anti-establishmentarianism in the criminal group, the Defias, my design iterations naturally turned to soviet-era propaganda stylization, involving the iconic red star, workman’s tools, and a Yellow/Red/Black color scheme.  The Defias, born from a guild of disgruntled stonemasons, are right at home with stonemason’s tools as the emblematic stand-ins for the too-recognized hammer-and-sickle motif.  The poster takes the iconic city’s standing throne and strikes through it for dramatic effect.
